Bunion Center of Hawaii
About Bunion Center of Hawaii
The Bunion Center of Hawaii is at the forefront of bringing cutting-edge treatments for people suffering from bunion pain. Our program delivers an innovative, specialized approach based on established and new techniques to address this very common deformity of the foot. Conveniently located in Hawaiki Tower (across Nordstrom of Ala Moana Shopping Center) our facility provides conservative and, when appropriate, surgical modalities to treat bunion pain. We offer the Lapiplasty Bunionectomy as well as the MIS - Minimally Invasive bunion Surgery - procedure, that uses a tiny incision, 4X smaller than traditional bunion surgery, for less pain and faster healing.
What is a Bunion?
The term “bunion” derives from the Latin word bunio, meaning “turnip” and is used to describe the usually inflamed, painful bony bump that develops on the inner side of the big toe joint.
The deformity results in the big toe drifting towards the smaller toes producing pain due to changes in the normal alignment of bones, tendons and ligaments of the foot. Over time, the deformity gradually worsens and may make it painful to wear shoes or to walk.
Advances in surgical techniques have revolutionized our approach to treating bunion deformities. When indicated, our Providers can discuss with you treatment options with minimal postoperative pain, improved mobility and earlier return to function.
If bunion pain has become a daily occurrence, or if it limits your ability to enjoy work or recreational routines, call us to learn which treatment option is right for you.
